Influencer Marketing: How to Set Up and Manage Campaign Groups

Table of Contents

Campaign Groups help you organize creators, standardize deliverable packages, and automate content workflows across multi-tiered or phased influencer campaigns.

Instead of manually assigning deliverables to each creator one by one, you can define Group Templates with preset platforms, content types, tracking links, and review phases. When you assign creators to a group and mark them as Hired, their draft deliverables are automatically generated in Content Approval.

When to Use Campaign Groups

Common ways to structure groups within a campaign include:

  • By Deliverable Tiers: Separate creators by scope or compensation level (e.g., Tier 1 / VIP Creators: 1 YouTube Video + 2 Instagram Reels vs. Micro Creators: 1 TikTok + 3 Instagram Stories).

  • By Campaign Flights / Timeline: Organize creators by seasonal phases or launch months (e.g., Phase 1: Brand Awareness (Oct) vs. Phase 2: Holiday Conversion (Nov)).

  • By Product Line or Creative Angle: Segment creators testing different products or messaging angles (e.g., Skincare Routine Group vs. Makeup Group).

Step 1: Create and Configure a Campaign Group

Important Best Practice: Set up your Campaign Groups and deliverable templates before adding creators to the campaign. This ensures that when creators are moved through your hiring workflow, their planned content populates seamlessly.

  1. Navigate to Campaigns from the left navigation bar and open your campaign.

  2. Click Campaign Settings in the upper-right corner.

  3. Select the Content Planning tab.

  4. Click + Add Group.

  5. Enter a clear, descriptive Group Name (e.g., Tier 1: Instagram Video & Story).

  6. Under Planned Content, click + Add Content Item to define the required deliverables for this group:

    • Platform: Select the social network (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Facebook, X).

    • Content Type: Choose the post format (e.g., Reel/Video, Static Post, Story, Carousel, Short).

    • Quantity: Specify the number of posts required for this content type.

    • Concept Phase: Toggle On if creators in this group must submit a rough draft, script, or pitch for review before producing finalized content.

    • Link Tracking: Toggle On if you want automated unique tracking links / UTM parameters generated for each creator in this group.

  7. Click Save Group. Repeat these steps for any additional groups needed for your campaign.

Step 2: Assign Creators to Groups

Once your groups are configured, you can assign creators in two ways:

Method A: During Creator Outreach / Addition

  1. When adding creators to your campaign (via Search, a List, or Creator Flow), select the creators.

  2. In the assignment modal, choose the target Campaign Group from the dropdown.

  3. Complete the outreach or addition workflow.

Method B: From Creator Flow

  1. Navigate to the Creator Flow tab inside your campaign.

  2. Select one or more creators using the checkboxes on the left.

  3. Click Assign Group in the bottom bulk action toolbar (or click the Group dropdown on an individual creator row).

  4. Select the desired group.

How Groups Connect to Content Approval

Setting up groups automates your review and tracking lifecycle:

  1. Pre-Hiring (Planning): Deliverables defined in the group establish your campaign budget and estimated content counts in Campaign Summary.

  2. Post-Hiring (Draft Generation): The moment a creator is moved to Hired status in Creator Flow, the platform automatically generates placeholder cards in Content Approval matching that creator's group template.

  3. Creator Hub Access: Hired creators immediately see their assigned deliverable checklist and Concept Phase requirements inside Creator Hub.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can a creator belong to multiple groups within the same campaign?

Yes. If a creator is participating in multiple phases of a campaign (for example, Flight 1 and Flight 2), they can be added to both groups. Their deliverables from each group will populate as separate draft items in Content Approval.

What happens if I update a group's deliverable template after creators are already assigned?

  • Deliverable template updates apply automatically to any new creators added to the group moving forward.

  • For creators who have already been marked as Hired, existing draft items in Content Approval will remain intact to prevent disrupting in-progress reviews. You can add or adjust individual planned posts directly from that creator's Content Approval view if needed.

Are keyword and hashtag monitoring rules set per group?

No. Listening terms, required hashtags, and brand mentions are configured globally at the Campaign level (Campaign Settings → Keywords & Hashtags). All groups within the campaign inherit the same listening and tracking rules.

Can I customize deliverables for an individual creator within a group?

Yes. Groups serve as a baseline template. You can always navigate to Content Planning or Content Approval and add, edit, or remove specific post items for an individual creator without affecting the rest of the group.
