YouTube Creator Partnerships API Integration Overview
Table of Contents
Sprout Social is excited to announce that we are one of the exclusive launch partners for the new YouTube Creator Partnerships API, enabling deeper insights into your creator campaigns. This integration will help you make smarter hiring decisions and drive better business outcomes from your creator marketing efforts.
To get the most out of the Creator Partnerships integration, you’ll need to create “Brand Deals” with your creator partners. When you create a Brand Deal and a creator associates their campaign post to that deal by appending the campaign code, you receive access to more post data points, like audience demographics of post and engaged views (more info in metrics overview). Here’s how to get started!
How to Use YouTube Creator Partnerships API Integration in Campaigns
Navigate to the Creators tab within a Campaign:
Clicking a creator’s name will bring up the Creator View screen. From here, click on the “Connections” component and then “Create Deal” to generate a Campaign Code.
Once a deal is created with a partner, you can see the details as well as their Campaign Code.
You can copy the Campaign Code and send it to your creator partners. When uploading their post in YouTube Studio, they will:
- Mark the video as Paid Promotion
- Search for your brand in the “Brands” section of the page
- Identify your campaign via the Campaign Code you’ve provided them
- Tap that campaign and continue with their upload.
When these steps are followed, their post becomes linked with your deal and you will then have access to Creator Partnerships post data in Campaign Summary.
For more information on post linking, you can visit the YouTube Help Center.
As creators begin to link their posts with your campaign, you’ll get a clear view of your impact.
Navigate to Campaign Summary:
For posts that are properly linked, you will see a new, “YouTube Metrics” tab. Within this tab, you can view detailed audience demographics of the post, additional metrics, along with “Total,” “Paid” and “Organic” toggles so you can easily compare organic and paid performance (if you boosted your post) to see how each version resonated with your audience.
Creators can link posts after they are live (if they haven’t done so as part of the upload flow) by selecting “Edit Details” within YouTube. This is also outlined in the YouTube Help Center.
Alternatively, you can send a request directly into the creator’s YouTube Studio app.
To do so, ensure your Brand Deal is created in the Connections component of Creator View. In the post pop-up tap “Create a Video Collaboration.” The creator will receive a notification in YouTube Studio. They will click on the notification and agree to the collaboration.
How to Access YouTube Creator Partnership Data on Profiles
Creators who are part of YouTube Creator Partnership will have more data available to you on Profile, inclusive of:
- YouTube audience demographics
- Shopping Interests- includes categories of products a creator’s audience would be interested in buying, such as home & garden products, apparel & accessories, consumer Electronics, etc.
- Watching Preferences- Highlight the topics of videos that a creator’s audience might be interested in watching, such as luxury shoppers, shopping enthusiasts, sports & fitness, etc,
To access this data, navigate to a Profile and select Analytics then “Audience”. Toggle to YouTube and begin vetting your potential partners!
