Creator Interest via Instagram DMs

Overview of Creator Interest via Instagram DMs

Creator Interest via Instagram DMs is an auto-updating list inside the Creator Lists tool that automatically collects and displays every Instagram DM conversation between creators and your connected brand accounts. Instead of scrolling through the Instagram app or passing phones around to find partnership requests, your team can see, respond to, and act on creator conversations directly in Sprout Social Influencer Marketing.

The list populates automatically from all Instagram accounts connected in your Social Accounts settings. Each conversation appears as its own row, showing the last message, who sent it, when, and a suggested next step. An AI Summary column provides context about what each creator is looking for and who they are, so you can prioritize without opening every thread.

Creator Interest via Instagram DMs is available on all new Sprout Influencer Marketing pricing plans (Standard, Professional, and Advanced). Customers on legacy pricing packages will need to migrate to a new plan to access this feature.

What You Can Do

  • See every DM conversation automatically. The Instagram DMs list shows each conversation with each of your connected Instagram accounts as its own row — with the last message, who sent it, and when — sorted by most recent. Connect multiple accounts and manage all their conversations in one place.
  • Reply without leaving Sprout. Every conversation carries a suggested action based on where it stands: Reply when a creator is waiting to hear from you, Follow up when the ball is in their court. Open the conversation, read the full history, and respond right there — choosing which of your Instagram accounts you reply from. The creator's full profile is one click away.
  • Understand each conversation at a glance with AI Summary. An AI-generated column captures each creator's content niche, their interest in your brand, and what they're asking for — a gifting request, a paid partnership pitch, a PR list spot — so you can prioritize before opening a single thread.
  • Focus with purpose-built filters. Filter by DM Account — one or several of your connected Instagram accounts — and by Initiated by, to separate creators who reached out to you from conversations your team started.
  • Keep the list yours. Exclude conversations that aren't relevant, and act on the rest like any other Creator List — open profiles, add creators to lists and campaigns, and use bulk actions to process many conversations at once.

How to Use

  1. Connect your Instagram account. Navigate to Social Accounts in your settings and connect at least one brand-owned Instagram account. Ensure Instagram DMs are enabled for that account. New users will see a guided onboarding flow from the Home screen prompting this connection.
  2. Open Creator Lists. Go to the Creator Lists tool (also called Creators). The Instagram DMs list appears pinned alongside your custom Creator Lists.
  3. Browse your DM conversations. The list auto-populates with all DM conversations from your connected accounts. Each row represents one conversation thread. The list is sorted by most recent message by default.

  1. Reply to a creator. Click on any conversation to open the full message thread. Write your response and select which of your connected Instagram accounts to reply from. The creator sees a standard Instagram DM — nothing looks different on their end.
  2. Use AI Summary to prioritize. Review the AI Summary column to quickly understand what each creator wants and who they are before opening the thread.
  3. Filter and manage. Use the DM Account filter to focus on one brand handle at a time, or the Initiated by filter to see only inbound requests. Exclude irrelevant conversations, and use bulk actions to move promising creators into campaigns or other lists.
