Influencer Marketing: How do I manage payments? Payment Flows

Table of Contents

With the Payments component in Influencer Marketing, you can manage your payment records efficiently and track money transferred to your creators. Payments helps simplify financial management and ensures a smooth payment process for creators.

Registering Payments

There are three ways you can execute payments for creators in Influencer Marketing.

  1. PayPal: Influencer Marketing integrates with PayPal to track your payment status and to facilitate transfers directly to creators. Payments are processed through PayPal and not through Influencer Marketing itself.
  2. *Lumanu: Lumanu is the best choice for organizations requiring enterprise-level AP infrastructure and global tax compliance. It serves as a single vendor, meaning your finance team only needs to manage one vendor record (Lumanu) rather than individual records for every creator. Top up your Lumanu wallet and send creator payments directly from your Campaign workflow.
  3. Manually add payments: For payments made outside the Influencer Marketing platform, you can manually register transactions for record-keeping and tracking purposes.

*Available only to Lumanu customers

Campaign-Level Creator Payouts

When managing creators within an active campaign, a global status indicator is visible in the payments component.

  • Status Indicators: A gray bubble means the creator has not yet created or linked a Lumanu or Paypal account to this workspace. A green bubble indicates they are successfully onboarded and ready to receive funds.
  • Onboarding Requests: If a creator needs to sign up, clicking Pay will open an information box with a pre-populated invitation link that can be sent directly to the creator.
  • Bulk Invites: Users can bulk-select creators from the main campaign view to send out authentication templates simultaneously.
  • Executing Payment: Click Pay, choose the appropriate Lumanu currency workspace, verify your available balance, and click Next to save as a draft or Pay Now to execute. Funds typically arrive in the creator's account within a few minutes.
  • Omnichannel Flexibility: Within a single campaign, managers can pay different creators using Lumanu, PayPal, or log manual "Off-Platform" payments processed via external corporate payment systems

How to create a new payment - Creators

To add a new payment directly to a creator, navigate to the creator view and click Pay next to the Payment component in the right panel. Choose between one of three options:

  • PayPal: Specify the payment amount and PayPal will estimate additional fees based on current rates.
  • Lumanu: Specify the payment amount and add a payment title .
  • Manual: Add the payment amount as well as title, notes and fee if applicable.

After you’ve entered the payment amount and title, tap Next. This will set the payment as a draft. You’ll then have the option to complete the payment. If you’d like for an additional person in your organization to review the payment before processing, then can review every payment that is queued as a draft from the Payments Dashboard.

For additional flexibility in managing your payments, you can also split the total amount into multiple payment installments for the creator.

What are PayPal fees?

Creators are responsible for PayPal fees unless otherwise arranged. Influencer Marketing offers an estimator tool to help agencies and brands account for these fees during the payment process.

For example, if a payment is worth $100 the creator will typically receive about $96.

To shift the PayPal fee onto the agency or the brand, check the box next to Use PayPal Fee Estimation. This ensures creators receive their full payment.

Click Next for the option to save the payment as a draft or to complete the payment.

What are Lumanu Fees?

A 3% transaction fee is applied at the time of funding and appears as a line item on the invoice. You can either gross up the invoice to account for the fee (e.g. send $103 to net $100 in your wallet) or absorb it from the funded amount (e.g. send $100 and have $97 available to pay creators).

What is a payment draft?

If you’re not ready to process a payment immediately, you can save your payment as a draft to be finalized and paid out at a later time. Saving your payments as a draft makes it easy to manage multiple transactions at once. Simply click Save as Draft after you’ve included all the payment details.
